Trimming Clinics

I offer a variety of clinic formats at the farm where I keep my horses.  Most of my clinics are hands on and there are 11 horses that we can work with, so you will get a lot of experience trimming feet.

I give three types of clinics in Chester, NY two of them the Private and Semi Private are hands on.  The third clinic is more of an introduction to barefoot and the healthy horse.  This last clinic makes it possible to have a larger group attend and learn.  I will trim a few horses while teaching at the same time, this is not a hands on clinic.

All the clinics include viewing photographs and bones to learn how to spot a variety of hoof issues.  I teach you how to fit boots and how to use the correct pads.  Boots and pads are critical for most horses in transitioning from shod to barefoot.  We also discuss the importance of diet, saddle fit and dentistry and how they play a role in soundness.  Finally for those that are interested I teach you how to take good photos for documenting the progress of your horses feet.

There are a number of nice, inexpensive hotels as well as B&B's in my area, so if you need to stay over I can help you locate one.

Private clinics:    350.00  1 day

                            475.00  1.5 days

Semi Private:      300.00 per person 2ppl

                        275.00 per person 3ppl

The Introduction clinic is a one day only clinic and is 65.00 per person.  Check my Events page to see when these clinics are being held.

I also travel and give clinics throughout the United States, please contact me if you are interested in scheduling a clinic at your farm.

I would like to mention that I work closely with Paige Poss, see www.ironfreehoof.com.  I recommend to all my students who are serious about learning to trim to also arrange to visit with Paige in Virginia to add to their trimming knowledge.

Finally, I am a founding member of the American Hoof Association www.americanhoofassociation.org.  All members listed are also available for training, please contact anyone that is close to your area.

Many of us trim alike but each of us has our own unique style that helps the horses.  The more people you learn from the better you will be.
