Welcome to Click and Trim
|
My name is Kim Cassidy, I'm a Professional Barefoot Trimmer and I live in Chester, NY.
I started this site almost five years ago to advertise my services and also to share my work and thoughts on keeping a horse barefoot. I've changed my way of trimming as I've gone along and I'm sure I will continue to do so. I am learning every time I pick up a hoof, therefore my trim adapts to what I'm working on.
I have put up many pages of examples of my trim. This includes examples of sound, unsound and in transition feet. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. I've also put together pages of particular horses to show the progression of the trim. I don't want to call them case studies, since I have not kept detailed photos and written records. Instead it is a way to show what happens to the foot over time.
I have more information about my trimming style and philosophies on my Trimming page.
I'm in the process of updating all the pictures and articles on my site. I have to decide what still applies and what can be archived. I'll keep all the pictures up but will label certain pages as "the past". I want to show my progression.
As I said I'm sharing pictures and thoughts but if you want detailed instructions on trimming please go to www.ironfreehoof.com
I offer private trimming clinics which are available at the farm I live on, for more information click HERE. Beginner lessons and clinics are available to help you to be able to maintain your barefoot horse, those can be given here at the farm or at yours. Email for more information. My trimming and training area covers Long Island, Westchester, Orange and parts of Ulster County, NY and Northern NJ. Please browse throughout the site to learn more about me, my horses and my philosophies of trimming and training. Check back often to learn more about what is in the works for the future. I am currently on the Board of Directors for the newly formed American Hoof Association. We want to provide the public with a list of trimmers who are up to our high, exacting standards. More information can be found at the link above. Finally, I'd like to mention Clicker Training since it has influenced how I trim, how I interact with the horses and even how I interact with everyone in my life. I love what Clicker Training has done for my horses, it has given them the ability to always have an opinion, they are my partners, not my soldiers. I have many websites about Clicker Training listed in my Links section, please browse these sites to learn more. I'm available to help you and horse train anything you can think of. Please contact me for more information on anything you find here on the site. 03/15/08 I have become a distributor of Dave Richards Equicast. I will be selling his 4 x 4, 3 x 4 and 2 x 4 casts. Click on the Equicast tab at the top of the screen for more information. I'm keeping a photo log of how I'm applying the Equicast to a few horses, that link is under the Equicast tab as well. New Short Video showing an example of TFtT (Trimming From the Top) Follow this link to watch.
